GZA The Genius of Wu-Tang Clan T-shirt

The designers and artists here at HANTU have been fans of The Wu-Tang Clan since our various skater and teenage years, so it was a great honour for us to wangle backstage access to one of GZA’s (aka The Genius) solo shows in Liverpool, instead of just turning up to gawp in awe, we decided to put together a t-shirt design for him. Geo worked his magic, we printed the “Ninja Beats” design for him and his entourage with GZA thanking us by wearing his on stage. He delivered an awesome show and it was safe to say the HANTU entourage were reduced to being teens again.

Art on Your Sleeve Exhibition

HANTU has been designing prints for apparel for as long as we can all remember. We decided to showcase our entire collection of designs as a series of prints for sale for our very first exhibition. We chose the Dan Sane warehouse space, tucked away in Sheffield’s industrial quarter and it was a brilliant location, dark, dingy and spacious. To top it off we thought we’d thrown in a make do sculpture made out of cardboard boxes hanging around our HANTU studio, want to know how long it takes to make a giant robot out of cardboard? The answer is 2 days. Phew. (Check the video out here!)

Project Bright

We were approached by Sheffield City Council to piece together a collection of garments that could utilise reflective vinyl within the designs. In league with their Road Safety Campaign, the clothing had to appeal to street wear buyers whilst loosely promoting road awareness especially in the evening. Once the designs were put together by Geo and Crazy.A the shirts were put together with added vinyl effect, to test the garment we asked Ogle film and media to piece together a demonstration video to show it all coming together.
